Joe's Models
Joe has an inventive mind for some models, creating alternate histories for the subject.

The battleship New Jersey, BB-62
The ship named after our present home state, the biggest the US ever built.
I built this out of a rather primitive kit, adding much detail, some from special upgrade kits, some I made from scratch.

  • Missile battleship
The USN considered completing USS New Jersey's sister ship USS Kentucky as a missile ship, ssimilar to the way some cruisers were updated.
This is the model under construction:

  • And I even wrote an entry in the style of Jane's Fighting Ships about her.

  • Planes
An autogyro in Royal Navy service.
Joe used his imagination for this real aircraft. The USN did experiment with autogyros, but the RN did not.

  • A Rotodyne in Royal Navy service.
Another imagined marking for this real aircraft. The Rotodyne was an experimental VTOL aircraft in the 1950s. If it had gone into service the RN might have used them.
